Van Nuys, CA – — Motion Control – A vertical lift of 300 mm (11.811 in.), high stability, and low cost are just some of the features of the AT20-300 Motorized Vertical Lift Stage from Optimal Engineering Systems, Inc. (OES). This high load, 50 kg (110.2 lbs), vertical lift stage can be easily integrated into almost any application. The large 400 mm x 200 mm (15.748 in. x 7.874 in.) stage has a pattern of threaded mounting holes. The rigid box construction of the moving component of the elevator stage travels on six slide rails assuring smooth vertical travel and parallelism of the table and mounting surface at all times, and features: 3.315 µ (non- Micro-Step) resolution, 5 µ repeatability, and 15 µ positional accuracy.

The try and prevent this, U.S. Border Patrol agents have the arduous task of monitoring over 6,000 miles of land along the southern US-Mexican and northern US-Canadian borders. To assist in this demanding task, a number of solutions are employed. This includes rangers, canine units, helicopters, drones, ATV’s, watchtowers, and 20-foot tall walls. Even with all these efforts, it’s not enough to cover all those miles.

To Complement LM76’s broad range of Linear Bearings that are FDA/UDSA/3A Dairy compliant, as well as linear bearings for extreme environments; they have added Deep Groove bearings which accommodate radial and axial loads, Angular Contact bearings for simultaneously handling radial and axial loads, Spherical Bearings which are self aligning, and Thrust Bearings for high axial loads. The SDLM-051-095-01-05 is a powerful, compact linear actuator measuring just 2.00 in. (50.8 mm) in diameter and 3.75 in. (95.3 mm) long. It has a 1.0 in. (25.4 mm) stroke and features a resolution of 5 microns (0.000197 in.).
The integral, linear optical quadrature encoder is directly connect to the shaft for the greatest possible bandwidth and accuracy and is protected by the housing. This fully enclosed linear motor features a continuous force rating of 7.6 lbs (33.9 N) and a peak force of 24.1 lbs. (107.2 N) at 10% duty cycle.

These are easy to use, single-handed, ergonomic joysticks that provide proportional control of the X, Y, and Z axis of from one to three actuators. Low, medium, and high speed ranges are button selectable. The X, Y, and Z axis speeds are controlled by the tilt angle of the handle and the angle of rotation of the knob.
The maximum speeds may be set by the user via the supplied, easy to use GUI.

Vaughan, Ontario, Canada — Motion Control – A “voice coil” is a generalized term that refers to any galvanometer-like mechanism that uses a solenoid to move an object back-and-forth within a magnetic field.
Motion Control Voice coil actuators, or non-commutated DC linear actuators, consist of a permanent magnetic field assembly (permanent magnets and ferrous steel) and a coil assembly. The current flowing through the coil assembly interacts with the permanent magnetic field and generates a force vector perpendicular to the direction of the current. The force vector can be reversed by changing the polarity of current flowing through the coil.

The LVCM-019-048-02 Linear Voice Coil Motor is a true servo motor featuring zero cogging, high accuracy, and high repeatability when operated in a closed position loop. Voice Coil Motors (also referred to as actuators) are clean, quiet, efficient, brushless high speed linear servo motors.
This small LVCM-019-048-02 diameter actuator has a 1.500 in (38.1 mm) stroke length and a high-force-to-size ratio of 7.4 oz (2.1 N) and a peak force of 23.5 oz. (6.5 N) at 10% duty cycle.

E. Longmeadow, MA – — Motion Control – Application – Dairy machinery manufacturers are under intense scrutiny by FDA inspectors when it comes to FDA material and caustic washdown compliance. Recently, LM76 was called by a large US dairy packaging company to review a problematic portion of their filling line. After each shift, the filling line is washed-down, has a caustic foaming agent applied to kill bacteria and then is final rinsed. The caustic foaming agent was destroying – literally eating – the aluminum shaft supports while shafting exhibited pitting and showed signs of minor corrosion. Additionally, there were areas where product got trapped and these locations were havens for bacterial growth. Because this system was in-place and our customer was the end-user, LM76 engineers had to use direct drop-in replacement com¬ponents. What to do?
