This broad range of solenoids allows the user to select the best solenoid for an application based on the force, stroke length, voltage, and duty cycle requirements. The AQ140 Series of linear stages are available off-the-shelf in travel lengths of: 600 mm, 700 mm, 800 mm, 900 mm, and 1000 mm. These high precision stages can be ordered with a Two-Phase Stepper Motor (pictured) which feature resolutions of 2 micron and 1.25 micron (achieved with a 10 or 20 micro-steps per step stepper motor driver), and up to 80 mm per sec of travel.

This compact, quiet 20 kHz pulse width modulated driver module measuring just 1.65 in. x 2.50 in. is designed to consume less energy by first applying the voltage for a pre-determined period of time necessary to activate the solenoid and when the plunger is seated, drop the voltage to a level sufficient to hold the solenoid in the seated position conserving energy and avoiding overheating the solenoid’s coil.

This also allows smaller solenoids to be used when a large force at a long stroke is required by applying high voltage to the solenoid providing the necessary force to pull the plunger in, then dropping the voltage down to maintain the plunger in place.
