E. Longmeadow, MA – Motion Control Water Dog Sliders are UHMW blocks operating in 303 Stainless Rails. Although water is a poor lubricant, it makes Water Dogs very slick. Water Dog Sliders linear motion guides are FDA Compliant, they do not absorb liquids ( they do not grow ) and they have great abrasion resistance.Water Dogs are by no means precision linear slides. They are simple sliders for water applications where moderate loads and speeds are present.

Greenville, DE — — Servo2Go.com has just added Zaber’s A-BLQ-E Series Closed-Loop Motion Control Belt-Driven Linear Stages with Integrated Stepper Motor/Encoder/Controller to its broad range of high performance cost effective linear slide and actuator family.

Zaber’s A-BLQ-E series products are computer controlled belt-driven linear stages with integrated stepper motors and controllers. A built-in rotary encoder allows closed-loop operation with slip/stall recovery features. They are stand-alone devices requiring only a standard 48 volt power supply for operation. A knob at the end of the stage permits smooth manual control; press and hold to switch between velocity and displacement mode and turn to move the stage.

The stages connect to the RS-232 port of any computer and can be daisy-chained with up to 254 A or T-series devices per chain. Convenient 6-pin mini din cables on the unit allow for direct interconnection between units in close proximity. For longer distances, standard cable extensions can be used.

With travel lengths up to 2.1 m, and a maximum speed of 2.0 m/s, A-BLQ-E stages are perfect for rapid positioning over large distances. Their high load capacity and excellent torsional stiffness make them suitable for large payloads, while 10 µm repeatability allows these stages to be used for precise positioning as well.

Summary:

• 70, 145, 295, 445, 595, 1045, 1495, 2095 mm travel

• Up to 2 m/s speed, 18 N thrust, and 20 kg load capacity

• Encoder position feedback with slip/stall detection & automatic recovery

• Built-in controller daisy chains with other A and T-series products

MPS, which evolved from the Swiss watch and measuring instrument industry of the 1930s, is recognized as a global benchmark when it comes to the production of miniaturized components. It is renowned in particular for its expertise in centerless machining, which produces a degree of precision in circularity and concentricity that would be impossible to achieve with conventional methods.

This makes MPS an experienced specialist in the development and production of high-precision miniature systems that are both complex and increasingly diminutive in design.

When matched up with maxon’s range of motors, high demanding and dynamic drive solutions are possible. Additionally, it can be run in various operating modes (speed controller (closed loop), speed controller (open loop), current controller).

This ultra-compact servo controller is controlled by means of an analog set value. The value can be specified by means of analog voltage, an external or internal potentiometer, a defined value or by means of a PWM signal with variable duty cycle. Other functions include the ability to enable or disable the power stage depending on the direction of rotation, or to use speed ramps for acceleration and deceleration. The speed can be regulated by means of a digital incremental encoder (2-channel, with/without line driver), DC tacho or without encoder (IxR compensation).

Designed to be user-friendly with an easy start-up, no in-depth knowledge of drive technology is required. When the servo controller is connected to a PC via a USB port, it can easily and efficiently be configured with the “ESCON Studio” graphical user interface. During startup and configuration of the inputs and outputs, monitoring, data recording and diagnostics, the user has access to a large variety of functions and is assisted by user-friendly software wizards, as well as an automatic procedure for fine-tuning the controller. It comes fully equipped with everything that is needed. No additional external filters or motor chokes are required and pre-assembled cables for the startup are available as accessories.

The ESCON 36/2 DC has protective circuits against over current, excess temperature, under- and over-voltage, against voltage transients and against short-circuits in the motor cable. It is equipped with protected digital inputs and outputs and an adjustable current limitation for protecting the motor and the load. The motor current and the actual speed of the motor shaft can be monitored by means of the analog output voltage.

The large range for the input voltage and the operating temperature allows flexible use in a variety of drive applications. With its exceptional efficiency of 95%, the inexpensive ESCON 36/2 DC is a first-class choice for mobile, highly efficient yet consumption-optimized applications.

JVL presents two new motion control AC Servo Motors with built-in controllers and direct AC mains supply with same capacity and length as traditional servo motors

Birkerød, Denmark and Morrow, OH (USA) — JVL, the European leader in the development of integrated servo and stepper motor technology, has now again developed new and unique products in the field of integrated motor control.

JVL’s newest additions to their portfolio are two complete, high-capacity MAC motor®s with ratings of 1500 W and 3000 W. The first prototype will be revealed at the German SPS/IPC/Drives 2010 exhibition this November and later in 2011 the official launch takes place.

MAC motor®s are complete servo systems including a high-dynamic AC servo motor, hall-sensors, encoder, power supply, driver and positioning controller, as well as facilities for incorporating various control modules such as Bluetooth, WLAN, ZigBee, EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, CANopen, DeviceNet, Profibus, Nano PLC, RS232/RS485/USB, Process Control, etc.

New Compact Motors

The MAC motors set completely new standards for the performance and size of servo controls. With a length of only 182 mm for a 1500 W motor with a torque of 4.78/14.3 Nm at 3000 rpm – and 232 mm for a 3000 W motor with a torque of 9.55/28.6 Nm at 3000 rpm, these MAC motors match the sizes of traditional servo motors without built-in controllers with flange 130×130 mm. This has only been possible through the use of extremely compact motors and the development of electronics and mechanics that utilise the latest technologies and manufacturing methods.

So what about vibrations and temperature? As with the other integrated servo motors in the range (50…3000 W), both the motor and all electronic components have been specifically selected to withstand the rigorous demands required by industrial use.

Power Supply and Energy Savings

Powering these motors is easy since it only requires connection of the main voltage of 3 x 400 VAC through the M22 connectors. Control voltage for the encoder and microprocessor circuitry is 24 VDC: In an emergency-stop situation, where an approved relay has cut-off the main power, encoder position and other values are maintained by this control voltage.

In some applications, however, this is not needed and in those cases an optional internal 24 VDC supply can be used, requiring only an AC main connection.

Furthermore highly effective switching technology is used to ensure low heat generation resulting in appreciable energy savings.

Other Advantages

One of the big advantages of using the integrated MAC motor®s is that you don’t need to install a separate servo driver or controller in a control cabinet. This gives you many subsequent advantages: Space savings in your control cabinet, saving of expensive motor and encoder cables, saving time (and money) for cabling, noise is minimized due to internal cabling and also installation errors between driver and motor are eliminated (price = ?).

In addition, service is much easier, since the motor and controller can be replaced as a single integrated unit. Hence downtime is minimized and production is maximized.
